Celebrate the Refuge Centennial in 2024! Multipurpose Room. Tuesday, May 28, 5:30-6:30 p.m. Ed Britton, manager of the Savanna District of the Upper Mississippi River National Wildlife and Fish Refuge, will present the amazing and ongoing conservation story of the refuge, which celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2024. The refuge stretches 261 miles from Wabasha, MN to Rock Island, IL, protecting 244,000 acres of Mississippi River floodplain. The refuge hosts over 3.7 million annual visits for hunting, fishing, wildlife observation, and other recreation. He will also discuss completed habitat improvements on the Mississippi River within our local area and proposed future projects.
